First of all, it can take the pressure off of your tires, increasing their life and performance over time. It also simplifies cleaning, maintenance, and storage. The center stand is your most stable stand option because it allows your bike to rest with the rear wheel completely off the ground. A traditional side stand leans your bike over to one side. This is usually not a problem until you try to park on uneven surfaces or areas subject to large vibrations. Under these circumstances, you’re going to find yourself picking your bike up off the ground when you could have counted on a center stand.

The center stand is also designed to fold up completely underneath the bike. You will not have to struggle with pushing or pulling any levers.

Tips for using your center stand:

• Wear sturdy shoes
• Make sure the bike is in neutral or it won’t roll
• Lean your bike so that both sides of the center stand are touching the ground
• Let gravity do most of the work
• Use light and gentle foot pressure to secure the stand
• Place your foot on the center stand (to keep it in place) while simultaneously pushing the front and rear of the cycle backward
• Put a bit of your weight on the center stand; otherwise, it will have a tendency to slide on some pavements
• Do not try to “lift” the bike. Just guide it backwards. The ‘lifting’ motion will happen on its own (that’s why center stands work so well.)
• The entire process should be done quickly and gently
